How Do Wedding/functions performances work?
So you’re considering booking an entertainer but not sure how it would actually fit in to your special day?
As a general rule, this is how a performance would work as part of your special event:
- Your artist arrives and sets up before guests arrive. This means there won’t be any interruption to you or your guests early in the function.
- The artist can provide background recorded music from guests’ arrival time. The atmosphere will start to build from the beginning of the function, and there won’t be any awkward silences as guests arrive. You can give the artist your own CDs or iPod to play for the background music. Or just leave it to the artist - they can use their own if that’s easiest for you!
- The artist will usually perform 3 or 4 live sets of music over a set time frame (if a live artist - DJs on the other hand play non-stop). The time frame for a live artist will include some breaks, which can be timed to fit around your planned formalities.
- Background music is also provided by the artist in the set breaks.
- The artist can cue up your special moment songs (for weddings) at the right time, or show your MC how to do this. This can include fading the special songs in and out as required, to work in with your MC’s announcements!
- The artist will pack up and load out at the end of the last set.
Before the big day, we can help you work out the best times to book your artist and show you how the performance will fit around your special moments and formalities. This will ensure that your special event flows smoothly and you get the most out of your entertainment booking.
